Dry hair, as we all know, is dull and lackluster. It also has complementary problems like dandruff and split ends; no one likes frizzy hair either; one brush, and it all goes static. But this hair problem is very common in India due to its climate and our water quality.
Different hair types require different methods to take care of them, such as, straight hair can generally be brushed when wet, but curly hair requires you to use curly creams and detangling methods. Wavy hair, on the other hand, requires a different method in and of itself (curling while wet, etc.). Keeping all this in mind, here are some ways you can manage your hair.

What causes dry and frizzy hair?

Lack of moisture is the main cause of dry and frizzy hair. Your hair may be frizzy due to the humidity, or dry hair may result from eating the wrong foods and drinking insufficient water as well.
Washing your hair everyday or every other day could also make your scalp dry by taking away the oils your scalp produces. Using too many products and heating techniques damages hair and definitely makes it dry and frizzy.
It is also occasionally genetic causes that make your hair appear a certain way. The climatic conditions are definitely not on your side, so all the best (just kidding)! The exposure to sunlight and the awful humidity can suck the shine out of your hair. It may seem like everything is bad, but there are many ways to maintain healthy, shiny hair.
The overwhelming stress of day-to-day life might also affect your hair, so keep it in mind to meditate once in a while.
Straight hair—a straight hair routine usually looks very simple, which it is because of the lack of hassle. If you have thin hair, it is important to keep in mind to not use products that weigh your hair down; thick hair can generally handle just about anything.
Curly hair—the curls are very hard to maintain, so it isn't taboo for you to use products to define the curls; in fact, it is encouraged so your curls appear pretty and moisturized. Thick hair curls require lots of product, whereas thin ones are usually defined with cream.
Wavy hair—not straight, not curly—a dilemma it is. These are hard to maintain, and due to a lack of awareness, people don't know how to take care of this hair type, and their hair appears frizzy due to inconsistency.
It's interesting to note that because dry hair doesn't have any moisture to hold it down, it is more vulnerable to static electricity. This explains why dry hair often becomes frizzy or stands up, particularly in cold climates with dry air.
Top 5 remedies for dry hair

These remedies are not only for dry hair but can also be useful when you're in need of a nourishing hair mask.
• Honey and butter hair mask—two of the most hydrating products. For this hair mask, do not use salted butter as it can cause dandruff, but instead use homemade butter without added salt. Take a few spoons of honey in a cup and add butter in equivalent quantity, mix them well, and apply the hair mask to the ends and mid (not the roots), leave it for an hour, then wash it off.
•Coconut and Vitamin E oil—Oiling your hair with these two oils can be wonderful. Vit E conditions the hair and makes it appear shinier and healthier, while coconut oil provides hydration as well as locks the hydration in. In a cup, add vit E oil and coconut oil; mix the concoction well. Apply it and leave it overnight.
• Egg and yogurt hair mask—Yogurt provides excellent conditioning to hair while egg increases shine; since it’s full of protein, it improves the quality of hair. In a cup, break one egg and add 3 spoonfuls of yogurt, mix it well, and apply it to hair; leave it on for an hour before washing off.

Tips for managing dry hair

-
Regular trimming- it is important for you to get regular haircuts and especially trimming since it helps hair to not only grow but also rejuvenates hair. The ends get the least of the nutrients, and it makes the length appear dull and frizzy. Therefore, getting hair cuts often helps nutrients to reach the ends as well as grow healthy hair strands.
-
Cold/lukewarm water baths—hot water, unfortunately, makes your hair lose its shine and, in fact, causes it to get weaker and damaged. Cold water or lukewarm water is not as harsh and helps hair to maintain the oils. Too hot water also causes hair fall, so look out for that.
-
Regular oiling—Generations have taught us to oil our hair, and it is the best thing for your hair. The champi we get stimulates hair growth and causes the hair pores to open to absorb the oil. Hot oil therapy also deeply conditions hair, therefore helping in maintaining healthy and shiny hair.
-
Avoiding heat styling—due to social conditioning making us believe that our hair has to appear a certain way for it to look gorgeous, most of us go for hairstyles and heating techniques to make our hair look like the model’s on the front page, but it is time to embrace your natural hair. This acceptance not only boosts your confidence but also helps your hair look its best in its natural state.
-
Good food—You are what you eat; it is important to eat healthy foods rich in biotin and vitamins to fuel your body and get the right nutrients for your hair. Eggs, green vegetables, milk, tofu, and fruits like pomegranate, apples, avocado, bananas, and berries are very important for your diet for healthy hair. Drinking a lot of water also provides hydration to your hair.
-
Sun protection—It is stupid to assume that you can just avoid the sun or that the sun doesn't affect your hair. UV rays penetrate clothing as well as your hair, so it is important for you to use sun protectants for your hair as well. It could be hair or just serums, but the little things make a huge difference.
-
Mental and lifestyle choices—it's important for a person to keep their head clear when dealing with matters of the body. It is unrealistic to think that state of mind doesn't affect your hair; relaxation is a must for you to have your precious locks shiny and moisturized.
Benefits of using home remedies:
Normalization of harsh chemicals is a widespread problem, and it is important that you recognize that natural ingredients are sometimes the best for your hair. Dry and frizzy hair is worsened by continuous prolonged use of harsh chemicals. Unlike harsh chemicals, homemade masks can put your mind at ease as well as hydrate your hair without the need for different products.
They're cost-effective as well; in a budget, you get the best. You can make the masks according to your own needs. By sealing the hair pores with natural oils, home remedies can help tame frizz and leave your hair looking smooth and manageable. Ingredients like avocado, olive oil, honey, and yogurt are excellent natural moisturizers that can deeply penetrate the hair shaft, replenishing lost moisture. Unlike harsh chemical-based products, most home remedies are gentle on the hair, reducing the risk of further damage. The home remedies also keep your mind at ease, as there is no expiration date to these products since you make them according to your momentary needs.
Conclusion
In the end, dry and frizzy is natural, but it is important to take care of your hair since in a dry and frizzy state, they're easy to damage and susceptible to breakage. Using oiling techniques and different hairstyles can always help maintain the health and shine of your hair. Following trends and using different heating techniques will only be temporary euphoria, but accepting your natural hairstyle and type will help you regrow your hair as well as achieve its natural beauty. It is also important for you to know your hair type; is it curly, straight, or wavy? Then it is important to take care of your hair accordingly. It is important to always remember that your lifestyle choices totally affect your body and hair likewise. You should always strive for the best in terms of products as well as foods, but also keep your mental health in check because stress also affects your hair quality. Hopefully these tips and remedies help you achieve your hair goals this year and make you feel like the best version of yourself.
